LAHORE: Foreign Minister Khawaja Asif, on Monday, said
that Pakistan welcomes the United States ef
forts to end Indo-Pak conflict but the country will not tolerate growing Indian influence in Afghanistan.
While addressing the fourth-round of US-Pakistan Bilateral Dialogue in Islamabad, he said that US strategy for South Asia was aimed at restricting India’s role in Afghanistan only with economic assistance. He further added
that Pakistan was against India’s intervention in Afghanistan.
He said that a devastated US policy towards Afghanistan was the re
ason for the failure of peac
e talks. The world appreciates the sacrifices of the Pakistani people and armed forces in defeating the terrorism inside the country, he added.
He further said the Pakistan has long standing relations with US but the “blame game” should be stopped to sustain bilateral relati
ons. He also said
that Pakistan always played its role for the establishment of peace in Afghanistan, adding that when it comes to countering terrorism, the country should make its own policies.
